PM Projects 5% Growth for 2026 as Antigua’s Economy Surpasses $2 Billion

Prime Minister Gaston Browne says Antigua and Barbuda’s economy has exceeded the $2 billion mark, with national growth projected to reach 5% in 2026.

Browne said “Antigua and Barbuda’s economy is expected to grow 4.8% by the end of 2025 and 5% next year,” noting that the country’s GDP has “surpass[ed] $2 billion.”

He also pointed to higher income levels, stating that “per capita income has surpassed $60,000 EC dollars,” placing Antigua and Barbuda “ahead of many other Caribbean nations.”

The prime minister highlighted gains across several sectors, including education, agriculture and tourism.

He said the government is “exploring opportunities to export educational services through the expansion of the University of the West Indies Five Islands campus,” while also moving ahead with an eco-park at Christian Valley and an agro-industrial park to “expand food production to improve food sovereignty and security.”

Browne added that Antigua and Barbuda will continue to “diversify the tourism product, including sports tourism and conference tourism,” as part of its wider economic strategy.

He said the upcoming budget will outline the full set of performance indicators, describing the administration’s record as clear evidence that “we have delivered for the people of Antigua and Barbuda.”
