LETTER: Let’s not forget about Sir Robin

November 7, 2025
in News, Sport

These days one hears nothing about Sir Robin Yearwood, but the gracious response of the many workers of APUA and others under Ministries of Sir Robin, continues to impress. The training programs and yearly internships have paid off in that courtesies continue to be a big part of their delivery of services.

Sir Robin was an avid reader, and continued educating himself in the ways of the business world and government cultures. He however depended heavily on the expertise of his staff and advisors, which demanded that staff training and continued education was a must.

We are happy to see the results are maintaining the custom, set in place by a man who has served his country well, and maintained his constituency’s love for almost half a century.

Stories abound about how involved the Minister was with his hundreds of employees, and his personal care exhibited in his rough-joking expression. Recognizing the many Rastafari in the APUA ranks, whenever celebrations were in order, Sir Robin would ask if the Rastafari eats and other ‘things’ were budgeted for, creating a big laugh. He was that kind of leader, visible, kind and tough.

The mettle of the man was clearly defined by his constituents, among whom he has always lived, and whose homes are open to him, even as he walks straight to the kitchen to taste from the pot on the fire. A lifetime of love among his own people made Sir Robin a permanent fixture in the hearts of many. This was no nambly-pambly love, this was and continues to be tough love of a man and his people.

Lots of love to Sir Robin!
