Antigua and Barbuda Recognizes World Animal Day

Every year on October 4th, the world unites to celebrate World Animal Day—a global initiative dedicated to raising the status of animals and improving their welfare standards everywhere. This day serves as a reminder that the relationship between humans and animals is both profound and essential, extending beyond companionship into areas of food security, agriculture, livelihoods, and the preservation of biodiversity.
Here in Antigua and Barbuda, the Ministry of Agriculture, Lands, Fisheries and the Blue Economy proudly recognize the importance of this day. Through its various divisions, the Ministry continues to emphasize the value of animals—both domesticated and wild—in our national development and in the safeguarding of our environment.
A Commitment to Animal Welfare
The Ministry’s Veterinary and Livestock Division has been at the forefront of initiatives aimed at ensuring animal health and welfare. From vaccination programs and disease prevention campaigns to outreach in rural communities, the Ministry actively promotes responsible care and sustainable livestock management.
