Commissioner of Police Everton Jeffers yesterday commended the female officers and staff of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda for their dedication and service as the force observed International Women’s Day 2026.
In a message marking the occasion, Jeffers extended greetings and appreciation to women within the organisation while also saluting female law enforcement officers around the world for their courage, commitment and contribution to their communities.
Referencing this year’s theme, “Give to Gain,” the police commissioner noted that success is achieved through dedication, discipline and perseverance. He said policing is a demanding profession and praised the women who serve in the force for demonstrating strength, professionalism and commitment to public service.
Jeffers also commended female officers who have distinguished themselves through academic achievement, leadership development and professional growth, noting that their accomplishments reflect the value of hard work and service to others.
He encouraged female officers to continue striving for excellence and reminded them that their potential within the organisation remains limitless. The commissioner added that their contributions are vital to strengthening policing and enhancing public safety in Antigua and Barbuda.
The observance of International Women’s Day followed four days of activities organised by women within the force. The programme included a community outreach initiative where officers engaged directly with residents, particularly women and young girls, promoting empowerment, mentorship and trust-building.
Female officers also participated in a retreat and seminar at the American University of Antigua (AUA) where discussions focused on leadership development, wellness, work-life balance and the evolving role of women in policing and national security.
The activities also included a formal banquet at the John E. St. Luce Finance and Conference Centre recognising female officers and staff for their dedication, service and professional achievements.
The observance concluded yesterday with a church service of thanksgiving and reflection at the Swetes Wesleyan Holiness Church, recognising faith, strength and unity as pillars supporting women in service.
