Tributes are continuing to pour in for a 35-year-old man killed in a crash on Crabbs main road, as emergency responders also dealt with several other vehicular accidents over the weekend.
Tributes Crash Victim Multiple
The victim has been identified as Charles Paul Rippon of Fitches Creek. Police said the incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Friday in the vicinity of the Crabbs Economic Zone.
Officers responding to the scene found a silver Honda CR-V that had collided with a tree along the southern side of the roadway. Preliminary investigations indicate the vehicle was travelling from north to south at high speed when the driver lost control and veered off the road, overturning several times before coming to a stop.
Firefighters from the All Saints Fire Department used hydraulic rescue equipment to extricate Rippon, who was found unconscious. He was transported to Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 8:30 p.m.
Rippon, whose family owns CPR Motors, is being remembered as an honest businessman, while many who took to social media, expressed condolences and described him as “kind”.
About an hour earlier that very evening, police responded to another incident in the Freetown area, where a vehicle had come to rest in a hedge along a by-road. The vehicle was a grey Toyota Ractis with a lone female occupant unresponsive in the driver’s seat.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) conducted examinations but detected no signs of life. A medical doctor later pronounced the woman dead at approximately 8:05 p.m.
She has been identified as 48-year-old Karen Pigott of Wireless Road. Police said that foul play was not suspected but investigations are ongoing.
The following day, emergency responders continued to handle multiple incidents. Among them was an accident in Hatton, shortly after 7:00 a.m., involving an 11-year-old boy and a truck. He was taken to hospital with a serious leg injury.
In a separate incident, about two hours later, a man sustained injuries to his leg in a two-vehicle collision on Old Parham Road.
A motorist was injured, in yet another two-vehicles crash, which took place in Cassada Gardens.
Meanwhile, police are also reportedly investigating an incident in Paynters on Friday night involving a teenager and a 41-year-old individual.
Authorities are reminding motorists to exercise caution and adhere to traffic laws, particularly speed limits, as investigations into the incidents continue.
