2026 Carnival Launch Postponed

The Antigua and Barbuda Festivals Commission (ABFC) said the official launch of Antigua Carnival 2026, originally scheduled for April 11 has been postponed.
Yesterday, the Chairperson of the ABFC, Ambassador Elizabeth Makhoul told Observer media that “scheduling conflicts” cited in a release specifically involve external partners needed to execute the event.
“We had some conflicts with some service providers,” Makhoul explained. “They had other commitments.”
While a new date has not yet been finalized, Makhoul indicated that the Commission is exploring ways to evolve the launch.
Regarding the next steps, she noted that a board meeting will be held after the Easter break to determine the new schedule. Makhoul added that the location for the launch may also change depending on how the event’s format develops.
