Greenbay Hill Man Pleads
A Greenbay Hill man has pleaded guilty to possession of an illegal firearm after police discovered a Mossberg 12-gauge shotgun hidden beneath his bed.
Ahjahnae Nicholas, 26, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel on Tuesday and was remanded into custody following his guilty plea.
The charge against his 20-year-old co-accused, Kayshia Riley of Swetes Village, was dismissed. Attorney Sherfield Bowen appeared for the accused.
According to facts presented to the court, police went to execute a search warrant at Nicholas’s Greenbay Hill premises in the early hours of April 10, 2026 where they met both accused.
Before the search began, an officer asked whether there was anything illegal they wished to declare. Nicholas responded immediately, telling officers there was a firearm beneath his bed. Officers proceeded to his bedroom and recovered a shotgun wrapped in a white and blue stripe sheet, inside a black plastic bag, exactly where Nicholas had indicated. When asked who the weapon belonged to, Nicholas told officers he had found it in the bush.
In court on Tuesday, following Nicholas’s guilty plea, the magistrate proceeded through the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court sentencing guidelines, with the court examining the applicable offence categories along with aggravating and mitigating factors.
Thereafter, the accused was remanded and sentencing has been set for May 12.
