Strawter Walker Inspire Ottos
Ottos ran a clinic on former champions Ovals Ojays to claim game one of their best of three Division 1 Playoffs series being hosted by the Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association when they met in the lone encounter at the JSC basketball complex on Tuesday.
Ottos led throughout the contest, outscoring Ovals 25-17 in the first quarter, 28-20 in the second, 32-24 in the third and 23-20 in the fourth to record the 108-81 victory.
Nick Strawter led the scoring for Ottos with 26 points while grabbing seven rebounds and dishing five assists. Christian Walker contributed with 21 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists while there were 17 and 16 points, respectively, for Warren Bogle and Pindo Drammeh. Bogle also had five rebounds while Drammeh had nine. Danny Perez and Ziven Clarke also chipped in with 12 points each.
In a losing effort, Jabiri Smith top-scored for Ovals Ojays with 20 points while grabbing five rebounds. Jalen Owens contributed with 14 points and five rebounds while Rolontae Knowles had 13 points.
Meanwhile, the clash scheduled between defending champions Flyers and Navigators did not materialise after the latter indicated they could not field a team.
The series has been awarded to Flyers.
