Charity Run – The Salvation Army Sunshine Home for Girls is hosting a five-mile Charity Run/Walk, on Saturday, September 5th, 2026 beginning at 5:00 a.m. from South Mall in Ebenezer to Turners Beach.

Charity Run Walk Launched

Individuals, families, corporate teams, schools, churches, community organizations, and exercise groups are encouraged to participate in a morning of fitness, fellowship, and community spirit.

The event is a fundraiser for the Sunshine Home for Girls (SHFG), which currently provides a safe, stable, and nurturing environment for girls between the ages of 9 and 18 years. The Home is committed to empowering these girls by providing shelter, care, educational support, life skills training, and opportunities for the future.

“Every step taken during this event is a step toward changing a young life,” said Major Violet Ezeh of The Salvation Army. “We are inviting the entire nation to come together in support of these remarkable young women and to demonstrate the compassion and generosity for which Antigua and Barbuda is known.”

To maximise the benefit to the Home, organizers are seeking sponsorship from the corporate community to help offset event expenses. This will ensure that most of the funds raised through participant registration and public donations will go directly toward meeting the needs of the girls and supporting the Home’s ongoing programmes.

Registration is $50 and community members who may not wish to participate in the Run/Walk are also invited to contribute by donating or encouraging others to register. Further registration details and additional event information will be announced in the coming weeks through traditional and social media platforms.

Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of the young women of the Sunshine Home for Girls, one step at a time.
