The police are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a shooting that left a 59-year-old Chinese investor recovering in hospital.
According to a press release from Stratcom, Yida Zhang was shot twice in the upper body and transported to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, where he remains in stable condition.
The police said the shooting was reported around 4:15 on the afternoon of Sunday, August 9th and officers from the Parham Police Station and other departments responded.
Officers are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, which occurred at the Yida Special Economic Zone at Crabbs Peninsula.
Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is asked to call the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at 462-3913 or 462-3914, the Parham Police Station at 463-2060, or Crimestoppers at 800-TIPS (8477).
Meanwhile, this incident is the second to have occurred at the Crabbs Peninsula compound within days.
Last week, on August 6th, police responded to a break-in at the property which resulted in three men being detained.
According to reports, Parham police responded to information about a suspicious pickup on the YIDA compound.
Officers reportedly found three men -34-year-old Marlon Tittle, 27-year-old Wayne Richardson and 34-year-old Ryan York – inside a building along with a Nissan Frontier pickup.
The vehicle was reportedly loaded with building window frames.
They were all arrested and taken to Parham Police Station. The pickup was also taken to the station for investigation.
The trio has since been charged with building break-in and larceny.
