Young national cyclist, Elite Thomas, departed Antigua and Barbuda on Wednesday for Belize, where he will represent the country at the 2026 Junior Caribbean Cycling Championships, scheduled for 20–24 August.
Thomas, who is accompanied by his father and Team Manager, Timothy Thomas, will compete in the Individual Time Trial on August 22nd before taking part in the Individual Road Race the following day.
The Junior Championships will provide the region’s next generation of cyclists with an opportunity to test themselves on a new course in Belize, with national federations from across the Caribbean expected to field teams in the road and track disciplines during the five-day event.
The championships come on the heels of a busy year for Caribbean cycling, with the sport featuring prominently at the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo earlier this summer. Road cycling produced several of the Games’ standout individual performances.
The Dominican Republic will host the second leg of the championships, the Elite and Under-23 Championships, from October 9th to 12th.
