Antigua and Barbuda’s passport has fallen three places to 49th in the 2026 global rankings, although it remains more powerful than those of most of the country’s OECS neighbours.
The 2026 report gives the passport a mobility score of 143, providing access to 72.2 per cent of the destinations measured. That represents a slight decline from its 2025 mobility score of 144.
The score is based on 99 visa-free destinations, 38 offering visas on arrival or facilitated entry, and six requiring electronic travel authorisation. A further 55 destinations require a visa.
Within the Caribbean, Antigua and Barbuda ranks fifth among 16 countries, with visa-free access to all 15 regional destinations covered in the report. These include stays of up to 240 days in The Bahamas, 180 days in Guyana and Suriname, and 90 days in Haiti. Among CARICOM member states, the passport ranks fifth out of 14.
Compared with other OECS countries, Antigua and Barbuda’s mobility score of 143 places it behind St Kitts and Nevis, with 148, and St Vincent and the Grenadines, with 146. It ranks ahead of Grenada, with 139; St Lucia, with 137; and Dominica, with 136.
Coverage is strongest in Europe, where 45 of 47 destinations are visa-free, with most allowing stays of up to 90 days. The United Kingdom requires electronic travel authorisation and allows a maximum stay of 180 days.
In South America, the passport provides visa-free access to nine of 12 destinations, including Brazil, Colombia and Venezuela, for up to 90 days. Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay require visas.
Access is more limited in Asia, Africa and the Gulf. In Asia, only eight of 50 destinations are visa-free, including China, Hong Kong and Singapore, while 26 require visas. In Africa, 15 of 54 destinations are visa-free, while 17 require visas. Among the six Gulf countries, only Qatar offers a visa on arrival or eVisa access; Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Oman require visas.
The report also places Antigua and Barbuda 15th among 56 Commonwealth countries, 15th among 132 Group of 77 countries, and 53rd among 159 World Trade Organisation members.
Meanwhile, the report’s welcoming ranking — which measures how easily foreign passport holders can enter Antigua and Barbuda, rather than how Antiguan and Barbudan passport holders are treated abroad — places the country 69th out of 199. Seventeen countries, including the United States, Canada and Australia, allow their citizens visa-free or facilitated entry into Antigua and Barbuda while requiring Antiguan and Barbudan citizens to obtain visas.
