Antigua Explores – Antigua and Barbuda is exploring closer healthcare ties with the French Caribbean to expand access to specialist treatment and training for local medical professionals.
Antigua Explores French Caribbean
Health Minister Michael Joseph discussed the proposal with France’s new Ambassador to Antigua and Barbuda and the Caribbean, Marie-Noëlle Duris.
The talks included possible cooperation in cancer care, neurology and stroke treatment, with a focus on early cancer detection, advanced treatment and the use of radioisotopes.
Joseph also suggested that patients with complex cancer cases could be referred to specialist facilities in French Caribbean territories for diagnostic and treatment services.
The proposed partnership could also provide doctors, nurses and pharmacists with opportunities for specialised training, professional exchanges and practical experience.
Duris welcomed the initiative and expressed France’s interest in strengthening practical cooperation with Antigua and Barbuda in healthcare.
Joseph said the collaboration could improve access to specialised medical services while expanding professional development opportunities for healthcare workers.
