Business consultant Celia Roberts-Morgan has been appointed by the government as Coordinator of the National Task Force overseeing preparations for Antigua and Barbuda’s hosting of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in 2026.

Roberts-Morgan will lead the CHOGM Secretariat, which is based at the Ministry of Trade on Friar’s Hill Road. She will manage several sub-committees responsible for planning and delivering the events linked to the summit.

Her duties will also include supporting the committee organising the Business Forum, one of the major gatherings scheduled during CHOGM. Other events include the People’s Forum, the Women’s Forum and the Youth Forum.

Her appointment was announced on Tuesday during a meeting of the Task Force at the American University of Antigua, where sub-committee chairs provided updates on planning progress.

Roberts-Morgan describes herself as a strategic human resource consultant, organisational development specialist and business leader.

She brings more than two decades of experience in organisational effectiveness and public-sector transformation across the Caribbean.

She is founder and principal consultant at Roberts & Associates, advising governments, financial institutions and hospitality enterprises on governance, policy reform and institutional performance.

Responding to her appointment, Roberts-Morgan said she was “deeply honoured” by the confidence placed in her.

“This is a profound responsibility and a significant moment for our nation as we prepare to welcome the Commonwealth family,” she said.

“I stand ready to serve with integrity and dedication, and I look forward to working with national, regional and international partners to ensure CHOGM 2026 reflects the very best of who we are.”

Foreign Affairs Minister E.P. Chet Greene, Head of the Task Force Ambassador Dr Clarence Pilgrim, and High Commissioner to the UK Karen-Mae Hill all congratulated her on the appointment and wished her success in the role.
