PM predicts clean sweep for ABLP in next general election

June 13, 2017
in News

Prime Minister Gaston Browne is predicting that his Antigua & Barbuda Labour Party will win all seats when elections, which are due in 2019, are called.

The Prime Minister, who has already hinted at snap elections, said he was responding to a “bogus” poll by the opposition-friendly Observer Media Group, which showed residents are dissatisfied with the performance of his ministers.

“The reality is whenever scientific polls are done they would have shown conclusively that the labour party is likely to win 15 of the 17 seats. But I say to you come the next general election it will be 17-0, a clean sweep,” he told supporters at Dredge Bay.

Browne dismissed the on-line Observer poll as being for “entertainment value only.”

In some instances, the poll showed that 60 per cent of participants are not happy with the performance of the government.

But Browne reminded listeners to a radio programme this morning that the majority of Observer’s audience are supporters of the United Progressive Party.

He told the radio station if it wants to be useful, pay for a scientific poll to be done.
