Stop and search- lawmen step up their response to crime

July 15, 2017
in News

In response to what appears to be a recent spike in criminal activity, lawmen have stepped up their stop and search activities.

Tonight, several heavily armed police officers were seen at strategic locations pulling vehicles over and conducting various searches on the occupants and their vehicles.

The stop and search method has proven to be an effective crime fighting tool for police in the past.

It’s one of the proactive measures being employed by the police not only to seek wanted individuals but to stop crime before it happens.

The resumption of the crime fighting strategy comes less than 24 hours after armed masked men held the owners of Bitar Restaurant in All Saint at gunpoint and robbed the establishment.

There have also been several reports of stabbings and shootings in the last three weeks.

In addition, vehicle theft has also been on the increase.

Last week lawmen issued a warning to criminal groups that they will be sought to face the full brunt of the law.
