Social Transformation Minister Rawdon Turner has premiered a video on his social media platforms showing truckloads of building materials arriving for distribution to vulnerable households under the government’s Housing Assistance Programme Initiative (HAPI).
In the post, Turner said the programme is aimed at supporting the country’s poorest and most indigent residents by improving housing conditions “with dignity and care.”
He explained that applications can be collected from the Social Protection Board and that, once submitted, officers will visit and assess each household to determine eligibility.
According to the minister, qualifying applicants will receive building materials at no cost to help improve their homes.
Turner said the initiative is intended to restore pride, create safer living conditions, and reinforce that vulnerable citizens are “seen, valued, and never forgotten” as the government continues efforts to build a more caring and compassionate society.
