in News, Sport

A team from the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) has been deployed to Jamaica to help restore electricity following the passage of Hurricane Melissa.

The group, led by Supervisor Kelvin Tanner and Foreman Sean Spencer, includes lineworkers Wamani Grayman, Jamany Anthony, and Shoy Matthew. They will spend about a month assisting the Jamaica Public Service (JPS) with power restoration in affected communities.

Their mission forms part of the CARILEC Disaster Assistance Programme, which mobilises regional utilities to support recovery efforts after major disasters.

Electricity Business Unit Manager Andre Matthias praised the team’s professionalism, urging them to prioritise safety while representing APUA and Antigua and Barbuda.

APUA said the deployment reflects its commitment to regional solidarity and excellence in service.
