Authorities are continuing investigations into the police shooting of 18-year-old Kahleel Simon, who was killed on his birthday on 27 August.
Acting Police Commissioner Everton Jeffers told state media that officers are still gathering evidence and witness statements. He said a file is being compiled for submission to the Magistrate ahead of a coroner’s inquest.
Jeffers confirmed that an autopsy on Simon’s body has been completed.
Simon’s death has prompted community protests, with relatives and residents alleging that excessive force was used and that he was not given a chance to comply before being shot.
