Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre neurology team attends US epilepsy conference

January 3, 2026
in News, Sport

The Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre says members of its neurology team have taken part in a major international conference focused on epilepsy care and research.

The hospital confirmed that its team was represented at the 2025 American Epilepsy Society (AES) Meeting by Dr Gaden Osborne, neurologist and chair of subspecialty services, Kesha Willock, a registered nurse and EEG technician, and Dr Ranisha Hazlewood, a neurology registrar.

The AES meeting is one of the world’s leading forums for epilepsy specialists, bringing together clinicians and researchers to discuss the latest advances in diagnosis, treatment and long-term management of the condition.

In a statement, the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre said participation in the conference allows its specialists to remain current with international best practices and emerging research.

Hospital officials said the knowledge gained would be applied locally, with the aim of improving epilepsy diagnosis, patient care and long-term support for individuals and families across Antigua and Barbuda.

The medical centre added that continued professional development plays a key role in strengthening specialist services within the public health system, noting that improved training ultimately leads to better patient outcomes.
