The New Democratic Party has won the 2025 general election, returning to government after 25 years. Party leader Dr. Godwin Friday is set to become the island’s seventh prime minister since independence, defeating longtime incumbent Ralph Gonsalves.
The NDP secured nine seats to end Gonsalves’ extended run in office. Friday will take charge in the coming days as the country looks to his plans for tackling economic and social challenges.
