Prime Minister Gaston Browne has pledged government support for 27-year-old Shabo Nedwell of Cashew Hill, who was seriously injured in a pit bull attack in Skerrit’s Pasture last week.
Mr Browne said the state would pay for all medical and corrective surgery expenses, including treatment overseas if required. He commended Nedwell’s resilience after she attended her University of the West Indies Five Islands graduation in a wheelchair, only days after the incident.
Nedwell sustained multiple bite wounds to her legs and face after being mauled by two dogs belonging to her aunt, Stacy Simon. The case has sparked renewed discussion over dangerous dog ownership and the need for tighter animal-control measures.
