Antigua and Barbuda Statement on U.S. Travel Concerns: “We Are Open for Business”

TRAVELMARKET REPORT: Antigua and Barbuda has released a statement regarding recent concerns regarding entry and exit requirements for U.S. travelers.

The statement follows recent media coverage of the restricted U.S. visa access for Antiguan nationals, which blocks citizens of the Caribbean nation from entering the country.

The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority is assuring U.S. travelers that they are not impacted by these changes to visa access. Authorities in the dual-island nation have confirmed that there have been no changes to entry or exit requirements for U.S. citizens or other international visitors travelling to Antigua and Barbuda.

All airports and seaports are fully operational, and the country remains a “remains a safe, welcoming, and vibrant destination.”

“Antigua and Barbuda is open for business, and we are delighted to welcome visitors as always with our signature hospitality, world-class beaches, rich culture, and exceptional service,” said The Honourable H. Charles Fernandez, Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Transportation and Investment. “Our tourism sector continues to operate normally, and travellers can plan their visits with complete confidence.”

Earlier this month, air travel within the Caribbean was disrupted due to U.S. military action in Venezuela. Hundreds of flights were cancelled on Jan. 3 and 4 in Venezuelan airspace and the “Caribbean Corridor,” which includes San Juan, Curaçao, and Piarco.

Now in its winter season, Antigua and Barbuda anticipates another strong tourism year in 2026. Known for its 365 pink and white-sand beaches, award-winning resorts, and rich culture and history, the twin-island Caribbean destination aims to be a welcoming paradise for travelers from around the globe.
