The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority proudly announced the winners of its annual Student Art Competition, unveiled during the Rising Stars of Art event at V.C. Bird International Airport as part of the third edition of Antigua and Barbuda Art Week.
A standout feature of Art Week celebration, the competition attracted more than 50 entries from schools across Antigua and Barbuda.
Students created artwork under the theme “Life in Antigua and Barbuda ,” producing vibrant interpretations of the nation’s culture, landscapes, and everyday experiences.
Winning pieces are now on display in the airport’s Expressions of Art and Fashion exhibit.
Competition Winners
Ages 13–17
- 1st Place: Summer Goodwin – Christ the King High School
- 2nd Place: Gabrielle Grant – Antigua and Barbuda College of Advanced Studies
- 3rd Place: Josea Morris – St. Anthony’s Secondary School
- Honourable Mention: Mahi Singh – St. Anthony’s Secondary School
Ages 10–12
- 1st Place: Zoey Carter – Sir Novelle Richards Academy
- 2nd Place: Haizea Carrer Falcone – Mill Academy
- 3rd Place: Zandaya Joseph – St. Anthony’s Secondary School
Ages 7–9
- 1st Place: Chris Oribia – Island Academy
- 2nd Place: Lele Rozay Jane – Mill Academy
- 3rd Place: Breana Haughton – St. John’s Lutheran School
Gold sponsor Flow presented prizes to the winners. Country Manager Wayne Hull reaffirmed the company’s commitment to youth development and the creative arts.
“It is truly inspiring to witness the talent and imagination of our young artists,” said Colin C. James, CEO of the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority. “Their artwork not only reflects the beauty of our island but also demonstrates the importance of encouraging creativity and self-expression from an early age.”
Head judge Kwame Delfish, a Toronto-based artist with Antiguan heritage, praised the exceptional quality of submissions, noting that each piece regardless of placement demonstrated meaningful storytelling, strong technique, and a unique artistic voice.
Geneva George, Commercial Manager of the Antigua and Barbuda Airport Authority, highlighted the importance of the initiative, “ The airport is proud to be part of Art Week. A traveler’s first impression starts at the airport, whether they are arriving or departing, and these beautiful pieces of art will enhance the welcome and showcase the creativity of our young artists.”
In special recognition, Island Academy received a $500 award from Diamond International for its art department after submitting the highest number of entries, 20 pieces.
