Cabinet Praises One Nation Caribbean Music Festival as Model of Planning and Execution

Cabinet has described the One Nation Caribbean Music Festival as one of the best-organized events staged in Antigua and Barbuda, citing strong planning, coordination and public support.

Speaking at Thursday’s post-Cabinet media briefing, Director General of Communications in the Prime Minister’s Office Maurice Merchant said Cabinet extended congratulations to the Minister responsible for festivals, Daryll Matthew, following the successful staging of the two-day event.

“The festival stood as a shining example of excellence in planning, coordination, and execution,” Merchant said, adding that Cabinet was of the view that it was “one of the best organized and executed festivals staged in Antigua and Barbuda.”

Merchant said Cabinet noted that the festival’s operations, attendance and performances reflected “clear vision, effective leadership, and meticulous preparation,” and that the event reinforced national unity and pride.

“The One Nation Music Festival showcased Antigua and Barbuda’s capacity to deliver world-class cultural events while strengthening community cohesion and enhancing the country’s reputation as a premier destination for entertainment and culture,” he said.

Cabinet also commended Festival Commission Chairperson Ambassador Elizabeth McCool and her team, crediting their “dedication and professionalism” as instrumental to the festival’s success.

Merchant said Cabinet further expressed gratitude to members of the public who attended both nights of the event, noting that strong turnout contributed to its overall success.

“Enthusiastic support and strong turnout contributed significantly to the vibrant energy and overall success of the festival,” he said.

He said appreciation was also extended to service providers, security personnel, vendors, technicians, volunteers and support staff, whose efforts ensured the festival was “safe, well-managed, and enjoyable” for patrons.

Addressing questions about the future of the event, Merchant said there are currently no plans to expand the festival or change venues.

“There is no active discussion for either moving from the venue or adding another date to the festival,” he said. “They believe that they have the right ingredients for a successful music festival as is now.”
