Edna Parker-Chiddick, surrounded by family, friends, government officials and members of her community, was celebrated with a government gift of $10,000 in commemoration of her 103rd birthday on Tuesday.
The monetary gift forms part of the Government’s commitment to honour citizens who reach the age of 100 and beyond, recognising their longevity and contributions to the development of the country.
Presenting the cheque was Minister of Social and Urban Transformation Rawdon Turner who said it was a privilege to celebrate another member of Antigua and Barbuda’s centenarian community.
“Mrs. Parker-Chiddick’s 103 years represent more than longevity. They reflect a lifetime of strength, wisdom and invaluable experiences that form part of the history of Antigua and Barbuda,” the minister said.
“It is an honour for me to present this cheque on behalf of the Government and people of Antigua and Barbuda. We celebrate her remarkable life and pray that she continues to be blessed with health, happiness and the love of her family and community.”
The Ministry of Social and Urban Transformation extended birthday greetings to Parker-Chiddick and wished her continued blessings, good health and happiness.
