Good Humans 268 Expresses Solidarity with Caribbean Communities Affected by Hurricane Melissa

Good Humans 268 Inc. has extended its support to communities across the Caribbean impacted by Hurricane Melissa, with a special focus on persons with disabilities who are often most vulnerable during natural disasters.

In a statement released on Thursday, the Antigua-based organisation expressed “heartfelt solidarity and prayers” for people in Jamaica, Cuba, and other affected territories.

The statement noted that the destruction of homes, schools, and livelihoods serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need for accessible disaster response systems and inclusive climate resilience planning.

“Hurricanes such as Melissa highlight the shared vulnerabilities of our Caribbean family and the growing threat of climate change that disproportionately impacts persons with disabilities,” the organisation said.

Good Humans 268 Inc. also reflected on its recent regional visit in September 2025, during which it met with disability advocates, environmental organisations, and youth-led initiatives across Jamaica and other Caribbean islands.

The organisation said these partnerships, rooted in “shared values of empathy, resilience, and collaboration,” reinforced the belief that recovery efforts must be inclusive, sustainable, and community-driven.

“As a disability and climate action organisation, we reaffirm our commitment to advancing accessible disaster preparedness and climate justice for all,” the statement added.

“Inclusion must not be an afterthought—it is essential to ensuring that no one is left behind in our regional response and rebuilding efforts.”

The organisation concluded by paying tribute to families, communities, and first responders working on the ground, pledging continued advocacy, mobilisation, and awareness efforts to champion regional unity, resilience, and accessibility.
