Greene Calls – Foreign Affairs Minister E P Chet Greene is urging Commonwealth member states to attend and fully participate in CHOGM 2026, to be held here in November.
Greene Calls Full Commonwealth
Greene made the call on Tuesday evening at a welcome reception for a group of diplomatic representatives visiting Antigua and Barbuda on an advance trip.
He asked the delegates to return to their countries and impress upon their leaders the importance of attending the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, scheduled for the 1st to the 4th of November. He also called for meaningful contributions to discussions, noting the meetings are taking place during a period of global uncertainty.
Greene also drew attention to the theme for the gathering — “Accelerating Partnerships and Investment for a Prosperous Commonwealth” — saying it gives the Commonwealth, which represents one-third of the world’s population, an opportunity to show that its people matter.
The delegation was assured that preparations in Antigua and Barbuda are continuing and that the country will draw on its experience hosting the Fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States in May 2024 and the 55th Regular Session of the OAS General Assembly in June 2025.
The minister thanked the representatives for their visit and for the feedback provided to the local organising committee.
The event was held at the Copper and Lumber Store Hotel.
