Gilbert Boustany Appointed Ambassador to UAE, Miami Mission Reorganised
Foreign Affairs Minister EP Chet Greene on Friday announced that Gilbert Boustany has been appointed Antigua and Barbuda’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, while also outlining changes to the country’s diplomatic arrangements in Miami following Boustany’s departure from that post.
Speaking during the 2026 Budget Debate in Parliament, Greene confirmed Boustany’s new UAE appointment as part of a wider restructuring of Antigua and Barbuda’s overseas representation.
Boustany previously served as Antigua and Barbuda’s top diplomat in Miami, a key diplomatic and consular post given the city’s role as a hub for the Caribbean diaspora, trade and travel.
Greene told lawmakers that with Boustany’s reassignment, the government has adjusted how the Miami mission will be managed, noting that arrangements there are now being handled through updated staffing and administrative structures.
While Greene did not announce a new ambassador or consul general for Miami during his presentation, he indicated that the government has ensured continuity in the mission’s operations as part of its broader diplomatic realignment.
In recent weeks, the government has confirmed new senior appointments to the Miami mission, including Marie Louise Francis as Senior Trade, Investment and Diaspora Officer, with stated intentions for her to be appointed Consul General in the new year.
The Miami consulate remains central to Antigua and Barbuda’s engagement with its diaspora and commercial partners in the United States.
Greene linked Boustany’s appointment to the UAE with Antigua and Barbuda’s efforts to strengthen ties in strategically important regions. He previously referenced new visa arrangements with the UAE as part of broader initiatives to deepen bilateral cooperation.
The minister did not provide a start date for Boustany’s UAE posting but presented the appointment as a key step in expanding the country’s diplomatic reach and repositioning its foreign service to meet evolving economic and strategic priorities.
