LETTER: I’m so glad the statue protest got put off

Dear Editor,

I am so glad the protest for the statue was cancelled and never got off the ground. But the reaction to the statue is a lesson.

Those of us who value the freedom to practice your own faith or no faith at all without suffering the oppression or coersion of our neighbours or the government must keep a constant watch and be ever vigilant.

More and more, tolerance and respect for freedom of religion and of conscience is being eroded in the public consciousness in Antigua and Barbuda.

More and more people and becoming ignorant blind zealots who will beat their chests and protest when others refuse to observe or participate in their faith.

Ignorance and superstition are two of the foundations of our underdevelopment. Just imagine, people wanted to rasie a hue and cry over another religious group other than theirs erecting a statue.

What is that? Get moving out of here if you don’t like freedom and constitutional liberties.

Move on and migrate to some theocratic state where you can force everyone to read your version of the Bible or beat them to death if they refuse.

And then when they are criticised, they play the victim, and weep that they are not free to profess and manifest their faith (onto other people coercively).

A lot of these Christians are a dangerous and miserable set of people, always looking to strong arm their neighbours into conformity with their Bible.

But they eat bottom like everybody else. I think it’s the guilt from all the ass eating that makes them so angry at other people over nothing.

I’m glad God sent rain so that their protest roach out 🙂

I hope it rains next weekend too, you crack pot drama queens.
