LETTER: Thank You Lamin Newton for Folley’s Cleanup Efforts

December 8, 2025
in News

Dear Editor,

It would be biased of me not to acknowledge and thank the ABLP Caretaker for All Saints East and St. Luke, Mr. Lamin Newton, for the recent cleanup carried out in the Folley’s Housing Project area.

I wish to publicly express my sincere appreciation to Mr. Newton for this initiative.

At a time when many residents have felt overlooked and frustrated by longstanding challenges in our community, this cleanup has brought a noticeable and much-needed improvement to our surroundings.

Just a few weeks ago, I wrote to your news centre about the neglect we continue to face.

Although road issues still remain unresolved, I am grateful for the efforts made to address the overgrown bushes that had made parts of our road nearly inaccessible.

For months, wild grass and trees had left sections of the neighborhood unsightly and difficult to navigate.

The cleanup led by Mr. Newton has restored a sense of order and relief, and residents are appreciative of the attention finally given to an issue that had gone unaddressed for far too long.

It is a reminder that when leaders actively engage with the community, meaningful action can follow.

While other concerns, especially the deteriorating state of our roads still require urgent attention, it is important to acknowledge progress where it occurs.

The work done in Folley’s is a positive step in the right direction, and I commend Mr. Newton for responding to the needs of the residents.

His efforts show that even small actions can significantly improve the daily lives of those he seeks to represent.

I encourage all community leaders, regardless of political affiliation, to follow this example by prioritizing the well-being of residents throughout the year.

Consistent engagement and responsiveness are what truly build trust and bring lasting change.

Once again, I extend my heartfelt thanks to Mr. Newton for the cleanup initiative and for demonstrating that our community matters.

A Grateful Resident
All Saints East and St. Luke
