Nearly 80K – Law enforcement officials have seized cannabis with an estimated street value of $78,000 during a joint drug interdiction operation at the V. C. Bird International Airport.

The seizure was made around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, during a coordinated operation carried out by officers attached to the Narcotics Department and the Customs Enforcement Unit at the LIAT cargo shed.
During the exercise, two brown cardboard boxes were searched and the officers discovered 13 packages of cannabis with a combined weight of approximately 13 pounds.
Police said no arrests have been made in connection with the seizure at this time. However, investigations into the matter are ongoing.
The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda said it continues to work closely with customs and other law enforcement partners to combat the importation and trafficking of illegal drugs into the country.
