Valley Church Beach Theft: One Man Jailed, Second Cleared
A man has been jailed for stealing a visitor’s bag at Valley Church Beach, while a second suspect has been cleared of any wrongdoing.
Damien Henry, 24, of Bathlodge, was sentenced to 18 months after pleading guilty to larceny before Senior Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel. His co-accused, 20-year-old Terry Williams of Nut Grove, was found not guilty and had all charges withdrawn.
The theft occurred on Tuesday afternoon when two visitors reported that their bag had been taken while they were swimming. A witness told security that a man had grabbed the bag and fled in an orange Honda Fit.
Officers from the Bolans and Johnson’s Point police stations coordinated the response, intercepting the vehicle in Johnson’s Point a short time later. Both men were detained and the stolen bag, along with all its contents, was recovered.
