The National Public Library in conjunction with the US Embassy will make it possible for locals to view the much-anticipated solar eclipse next Monday.
While other parts of the world will view the full solar eclipse, Antigua and Barbuda will see a partial eclipse.
Carolyn Spencer deputy director of the library said a free pair of eclipse-viewing glasses will be given to persons who show up at the library on Monday.
There is a catch to this generosity Spencer told Antigua News Room (ANR).
She said in order for persons to receive the glasses they must view the eclipse from the library compound.
“They cannot go away with them (the glasses).They have to remain at the library, but they can walk with them after. We have to do this because we have to take a video to send back to the embassy showing the turnout. ” Spencer said.
A group of young campers will be at the library as well for the viewing. The deputy director explained that they will he shown a video and given information about the rare event.
Spencer said the glasses are in limited supply so she is encouraging persons to come out early-by 2:15 pm to view the eclipse, which begins shortly thereafter.
