Marie Daley delivered the first reading at Sunday mass before being shot dead in her Gray’s Farm home later that day.

The 65-year-old read from Ezekiel 18:25-28 which stated in part “having chosen to renounce all his previous crimes, he will most certainly live: he will not die.”

According to reports, it was while sitting at her kitchen table that Daley was shot multiple times.

A terrified neighbour who was in her backyard at the time said she heard several shots and when she looked, she saw a masked man running from the house and into a car.

The woman said she then heard the screams of the victim’s daughter confirming that her mother had been shot.

Daley was well-known in Gray’s Farm and the killing has left the community in disbelief.

Police are investigating the country’s 15th homicide for the year.
