Simon Vows Continued Advocacy for Youth, Vulnerable in St. Mary’s South in 2026

Kelvin Simon, the Member of Parliament for St. Mary’s South, has pledged to continue prioritising youth development, social support and infrastructure advocacy in the year ahead, while acknowledging unfinished projects within the constituency.

In a New Year message to residents, Simon thanked constituents for the opportunity to serve, describing their resilience and unity as a source of motivation during challenging periods.

He said progress over the past year was reflected in initiatives that directly touched lives, particularly in education.

Simon pointed to support for students and teachers across the constituency, including assistance with CSEC examination fees for students at Jennings Secondary School, back-to-school book bag and supplies drives, and the distribution of laptops and tablets to high-performing students and educators.

He also highlighted renewed support for sports, citing donations to football clubs, assistance for the return of netball, and the facilitation of a regional football trip to St. Kitts. Simon said the experience allowed young athletes to compete regionally while honouring the memory of a deceased youth.

The MP said his office continued to assist vulnerable residents through monthly adult supplies for the elderly, care packages, food vouchers, medical bed support and limited relief for struggling small businesses. He added that he remained vocal in advocating against injustice and pressing for improved infrastructure in the community.

Simon reiterated his support for the family of Kahleel Simon, who was killed on his 18th birthday, saying he would continue to seek justice in the matter.

He also paid tribute to former St. Mary’s South representatives Hilson “Bro B” Baptiste and Victor McKay, noting that their service continues to influence his work.

While welcoming progress, Simon acknowledged outstanding issues, including the condition of the Bolans playing field, promised stadium seating and the incomplete fire station. He said those matters remain priorities as he presses for improved services and facilities.

Looking to 2026, Simon said the constituency’s goals would be guided by unity and determination, adding that collective effort remains essential to advancing community development.
