Cultural icon Sir Dr. McLean “King Short Shirt” Emanuel has expressed heartfelt gratitude after being discharged from hospital, thanking God, the people of Antigua and Barbuda, Caribbean neighbours, medical staff at Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, government officials, family, friends, and supporters at home and abroad for their prayers, encouragement, and unwavering support during his recovery.

Read more below:

With a grateful heart, I give thanks to God for His mercy and healing. I am truly thankful to share that I am now out of the hospital, and I want to express my deepest appreciation to everyone who prayed for me, reached out, and supported me during this time.

I extend sincere thanks to the people of Antigua and Barbuda and to our Caribbean brothers and sisters, especially those in St. Kitts, Montserrat, USVI, Trinidad, and St. Lucia. Your prayers, messages, and words of encouragement meant more to me and my family than words can fully express.

I would also like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Belle and the other doctors, nurses, and medical staff at Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre who cared for me during my hospitalization. Your professionalism, dedication, and compassion did not go unnoticed, and I thank you sincerely for the care you provided.

I also wish to thank the Governor General and the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, along with all other ministers, for their concern and well wishes. Special thanks to Dr. Baldwin Spencer for his support and kindness. I am also deeply grateful to the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA), my fellow board members, management, and staff for their support, prayers, and encouragement during this time.

My sincere thanks as well to my pastors, Pastor Hilton Joseph and Pastor Jarvis, for their prayers, guidance, and spiritual support, which strengthened me and my family throughout this journey.

I extend special thanks to my beloved wife, Lady Esther, to my children, grandchildren, my brother, my nieces and nephews, Sharon Stevenson, and Sandra Emanuel whose prayers and encouragement gave me renewed hope and strength; and to Dr. Errol Cort, Mr. Luther Lee, Mr. Peter Wang, Redding and Kenny Knibbs for their kindness, support, and concern.

I also wish to thank ABS Television/Radio, along with other media platforms, for sharing their well wishes, prayers, and messages of encouragement. Your public support meant a great deal to me and my family.

To my family, friends, fans, and supporters in Antigua and Barbuda, throughout the Caribbean, and in the United States and Canada, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am especially grateful for the many prayers and well wishes shared with me on Facebook and through other messages. Each one lifted my spirit and reminded me how blessed I am to be surrounded by so much love.

May God bless each and every one of you abundantly. I thank you all sincerely and look forward to continuing this journey with faith, strength, and gratitude.

With heartfelt thanks,
Sir Dr. McLean “King Short Shirt” Emanuel
