The Village of Vibes at Julees: Where Art Week Explodes in Color, Culture & Cuisine

November 25, 2025
in News, Sport

Antigua & Barbuda Art Week 2025 is here and the brand-new Art & Cultural Village at Julees Restaurant will be an exciting addition to this year’s national celebration.

This outdoor creative space is where color, culture, cuisine, and pure imagination collide, creating a vibrant Village of Vibes unlike anything seen before.

The Art & Cultural Village will shine a spotlight on artpreneurs—the creative entrepreneurs powering Antigua & Barbuda’s cultural economy.

More than 25 local and regional artists and artisans, will showcase their talents, including oil and acrylic paintings, fiber art, sculpture, handmade fashion, beadwork, jewelry and miniature architectural pieces.

Photography exhibits will pair nostalgia with futuristic vision, while culinary artists serve up Caribbean-inspired brunches, tasting flights, homemade ice cream, confections and the signature hands-on chARTcuterie “ paint and sip” workshop. It will be a full sensory experience celebrating creativity, entrepreneurship and community.

Opening Night at the Art & Cultural Village will take place under the stars on Thanksgiving evening, Thursday November 27, from 6–9 PM, and will double as Julees’ FREE Movie Night.

The evening will include a special posthumous tribute to Vaughn Walter, MBE, the cultural architect and festival visionary whose work helped to shape national identity.

A screening of the movie “Once In An Island,” featuring Vaughn in a starring role, will anchor the tribute.

“Vaughn’s legacy embodies this year’s theme of our first Art & Cultural Village: A Collision of Color, Culture & Cuisine and in his own iconic words, “You haffu come,” said Faye Edwards, artist and Chair of the Organizing Committee.

Friday, November 28 Students’ Day, from 9:30–11:30 AM, will be led by New Jersey–based Antiguan artist Odessa Whitlock. Students will enjoy tours, art demos and cultural exploration.

Young artists from across the nation will compete in “Chalk the Village”, transforming the Art & Cultural Village walkways into a massive chalk-art canvas, in a vibrant inter-school competition.

On Saturday, the Village will host a free Costume Building Workshop from 4–6 PM, followed at 5 PM by Barbuda Eats, featuring a special tapas menu at Julees, prepared by a Barbudan chef.

On Sunday, November 30, there will be “Brunching with the Arts” from 9 AM to 3 PM, featuring live music, fashion, dance and cultural showcases. Later that afternoon, the signature chARTcuterie Experience invites guests to sip, paint, snack and transform tostones boards into keepsake platters inspired by a four-shade Caribbean lipstick palette — cocoa brown, tamarind gold, coral mango and guava blush. Cocktails, wines, kombucha, and island bites complete this delicious fusion of art and appetite.

Art Week 2025 will be immersive, flavorful and unforgettable. From color to culture to cuisine — from students to seasoned creators — Antigua & Barbuda, don’t miss this creative collaboration. You haffu come.
