The Commonwealth Secretariat and the Government of Antigua and Barbuda have announced the official theme for the 2026 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM): Accelerating Partnerships and Investment for a Prosperous Commonwealth. The launch took place in St. John’s during the Commonwealth Secreta,ry-General The Hon. Shirley Botchwey’s first official visit to the country, alongside the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Hon. Gaston Browne.

The theme sets the agenda for CHOGM 2026, which will convene leaders from 56 member nations to deepen collaboration, stimulate sustainable investment, and advance shared prosperity across the Commonwealth. Prime Minister Browne said the message reflects Antigua and Barbuda’s enduring belief in unity and equality among nations, “It echoes our national motto, ‘Each Endeavouring, All Achieving’, reminding us that real progress happens when we work together to build a future where everyone has the chance to thrive.”

Secretary-General Botchwey described the theme as a call to action for a modern, dynamic Commonwealth: “It captures the spirit of partnership and enterprise that defines our family of nations. Together, we are building bridges of opportunity between governments and business, between people and ideas to deliver tangible results for our citizens.”

The event also featured the unveiling of the official CHOGM 2026 logo, designed by Ms Chaneil C. Imhoff, winner of the national design competition. The logo depicts a frigate bird, the national bird of Antigua & Barbuda and a symbol of freedom, strength, and forward movement, rendered in vibrant colours inspired by the national flag and Commonwealth palette to represent unity, renewal, and collaboration.

Reflecting the Commonwealth’s commitment to inclusivity, the ceremony brought together representatives from diverse sectors, including Rastafarian communities, CARICOM youth ambassadors, students, NGOs, and the private sector. Performances by the Hellsgate Steel Orchestra, Antigua Dance Academy, and the UWI Five Islands Singers added a festive cultural flair.

In a highlight of the event, national cricket legend Sir Vivian Richards was appointed CHOGM 2026 Envoy. “To host the Commonwealth in Antigua and Barbuda will be a moment of immense pride,” he said. “The same spirit that drove our success on the cricket field runs strong in our people, our culture, and our shared future.”

CHOGM 2026 will be held from 1-4 November 2026 in St. John’s, uniting leaders and stakeholders from across the Commonwealth to focus on climate resilience, trade, innovation, equality, and sustainable development.
