PM Browne Says Upcoming Budget Will Be “Relatively Short,” Highlights 10 Years of Development
Prime Minister Gaston Browne says this year’s Budget Statement will be “relatively short,” noting that he does not plan to speak for more than 90 minutes when he presents it to Parliament.
In comments ahead of Budget Day, Browne said his focus will be on outlining key indicators that he believes show sustained progress under his administration.
He said his government has “delivered” and “improved the living standards of people of Antigua and Barbuda,” adding that the country is “a far better place than it was 10 years ago.”
Browne told the public that he has “nothing to prove” in this year’s presentation, saying the intention is simply “to point out a few of the metrics to show… without any contradiction that we have delivered for the people of Antigua and Barbuda.”
He also projected further national development by the end of the current term, saying the country will “elevate to a higher level” within the next three to five years and that it will become “extremely noticeable by all” that “monumental strides” have been made.
Looking ahead to 2026, Browne urged citizens to move forward “strong and united” to ensure Antigua and Barbuda continues to be regarded as “one of the most successful small island states globally.”
