A 48-year-old woman was convicted and fined $1,200 in the St. Johns Magistrate’s Court after she was found guilty of Larceny and Unlawful Possession.

Deborah Andall of Hatton appeared before Chief Magistrate Walsh on Monday charged with Larceny of one hundred and forty-four pairs of cosmetic earrings, and Unlawful Possession of Five clocks, forty-one panels of curtain, twenty-nine curtain runners, three table cloths, five sheet sets, two pillow cases, eight Cushion cases, five teddy bears, Christmas decorations, a pair of sneakers, and a pair slippers.

She pleaded guilty to both charges and was fined $700 forthwith on the charge of Larceny or 6 months in prison. She was further fined an additional $500 forthwith on the charge of Unlawful Possession or 3 months in prison.

The Court heard that on Wednesday 7th June, the Hatton resident went into a store on Market Street, and was caught on camera stealing a lot of cosmetic earrings.

The matter was reported to the police and she was arrested and taken into custody. A warrant was executed inside her apartment at Hatton, and the items were found and seized by the police. At the conclusion of the matter, the Court ordered that the earrings be returned to the store owner and the rest of the items be handed over to the State.
