Antigua Distillery – Antigua Distillery is marking the country’s 45th anniversary of independence with a new rum, continuing a tradition stretching back over four decades.

Managing Director Anthony Bento said the company has watched Antigua grow through several key stages of its development, from the trade union movement through statehood to independence, and continues to promote the country today.
He said this year’s blend is the third rum the company has released to mark an independence milestone, following the first in 1981 and another for the 40th anniversary.
“The first one…was the launch of our first aged five-year-old rum in 1981 and then we recently did one for our 40th anniversary. And now, because of the significance of the 45th anniversary of the country and the fact that we do have the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, we thought it very important that Antigua Distillery once again celebrates this great country of Antigua,” Bento said while speaking at the launch of the 45th Independence anniversary celebrations last week.
