Antigua and Barbuda’s national under-20 striker, Drake Hadeed, scored an 85th minute winner for Spanish team Antequera CF against CD Estepona in the Primera Federación, a third tier league in Spain on Wednesday.
Hadeed’s goal, which came on debut, saw Anterquera CF to a 3-2 win in the preseason fixture at the Estepona Football Center. The young Antiguan player signed with the Spanish team in March this year.
The first clear chance of the match came in the 13th minute when Carlos Mangada made a brilliant run into the opposition half and, after reaching the final third, found Adri Gené. The Catalan winger crossed the ball and slotted it into the back of the net, scoring his second consecutive goal of the preseason.
As the minutes ticked by, Anterquera CF maintained their presence in the opposition’s half. Moi Parra troubled the Estepona defense on several occasions, most notably with a shot that Héctor saved after a well-struck effort from the Huelva native.
Moi Parra sent a cross into the area and Raúl Alarcón rose to connect with a header, scoring his first goal for the green and whites (0-2).
The Estepona team gained a foothold in the visitors’ penalty area during the second half. Shortly after Antequera’s second goal, the team in red reduced the deficit through Ale Contreras (1-2). Isra tried to respond with another attack on the home goal, but without finding the back of the net.
In the 70th minute, Anterquera CF team threatened again, and after a well-struck shot, they drew level at 2-2. The final stretch was marked by Antequera’s persistent search for the lead.
The next preparatory match for the green and white team will be next Saturday the 22nd, against Sevilla Atlético. (www.antequeraclubdefutbol.co)
