Clinics across the island set for repairs as building upgrades expand in 2026

Health clinics across Antigua and Barbuda are among the public buildings receiving attention under an expanded repair programme scheduled to continue into 2026.

During the Budget Debate, it was outlined that clinics are included in a wider list of facilities being addressed as part of ongoing efforts to fix leaking roofs, improve air quality and create safer working environments for staff and patients.

The programme includes additional roof-sealing work and repairs to long-standing leaks, which have been identified as key contributors to moisture problems and mold in public buildings. Officials say addressing these issues is critical not only for infrastructure upkeep but also for public health.

The expanded 2026 work plan will build on repairs already carried out at several major government buildings, with clinics now forming an important part of the next phase. The focus will be on ensuring buildings used by the public are safe, dry and suitable for daily operations.

The Works Ministry has indicated that the repair programme will prioritise practical improvements that reduce health risks, protect equipment and create healthier environments for workers and members of the public who rely on clinic services.

The clinic upgrades form part of a broader infrastructure effort that includes public-building maintenance, climate resilience and long-term building management.
