Ems Station Ambulance Installed
An Emergency Medical Services (EMS) station and an ambulance were commissioned at the Glanvilles Polyclinic on Tuesday aimed at improving emergency response and access to healthcare in the eastern section of the island.
The ceremony was attended by Minister of Health, Wellness and the Environment Sir Molwyn Joseph and senior health officials as well as the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) candidate for St Philip’s North, Randy Baltimore.
In a statement posted on his official Facebook page, Baltimore said the addition of the EMS station and ambulance is expected to improve response times and provide faster access to critical care for residents in the constituency and surrounding communities.
Health officials said the service will enhance medical transport and response capabilities for communities in the eastern corridor, including Glanvilles, Freetown, Seatons, Willikies, Newfield, Bethesda, and other areas.
The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Health to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and decentralize services by bringing critical care closer to communities.
Also present at the ceremony were Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Stacy Gregg Paige and Director of Emergency Medical Services Shawn Greenidge.
Officials said the new additions are expected to improve emergency response capacity and support the delivery of timely care when needed.
