Firearm Found – A Gray’s Farm resident was arrested after a firearm was allegedly found during a vehicle search on Nevis Street on the morning of Monday August 3rd.

According to sources, officers were on duty in St John’s around 10:40 a.m. when they received information that led them to stop and search a white Toyota Corolla in the vicinity of Joe Mike’s Restaurant.
Officers reportedly discovered a silver firearm hidden behind the vehicle’s glove compartment.
Sources said the driver allegedly became aggressive while the search was being carried out and force was used to restrain him before officers recovered the weapon.
The firearm was taken to Police Headquarters for safekeeping and the driver was taken into custody.
According to reports, the man later complained of having difficulty breathing and was taken to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre for medical attention.
Investigations are continuing.
