Gray Farm Man Remanded
A 32-year-old man has been remanded to custody in connection with a shooting that disrupted an Antigua Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) concert at Rising Sun Grounds.
Coteen Francis, of Gray’s Farm, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel Thursday morning, represented by attorney Lawrence Daniel.
He faces charges of shooting with intent to murder, discharging a firearm in a public place, and unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Police say the incident occurred along Queen Elizabeth Highway in the early hours of Sunday, April 26th — shortly after one o’clock in the morning — during the ABLP’s concert.
The shooting interrupted the performance of Jamaican dancehall artist Masicka, who was recently appointed as a cultural ambassador of Antigua and Barbuda.
Video widely circulated on social media showed the crowd scattering in panic. A vehicle was later found with bullet holes, and spent shells were recovered from the scene.
Francis will return to court on July 22nd.
