Murder Case Against Deon
The case against a Lower Ottos man charged in the country’s first homicide of 2025 remains with the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), resulting in yet another adjournment when it came up in court this week.
Forty-three-year-old Deon Lloyd, who is accused of murdering 35-year-old Javorn Williams of Old Road, returned to court on Wednesday, where prosecutors indicated that the case file is still at the DPP’s office. The matter has been adjourned to June 26.
The file has reportedly been with the DPP’s office since July last year, and the case has been adjourned multiple times since Lloyd’s first court appearance in January 2025.
Lloyd is accused of fatally shooting Williams during an incident at Boggy Peak, on January 2, 2025. The two men were reportedly involved in an altercation at the time. Williams was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lloyd was later detained by police while seeking medical treatment at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre for injuries he sustained during the incident.
He made his initial appearance before Chief Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel in January last year, where he appeared with his right arm in a cast, and was remanded to His Majesty’s Prison.
He is being represented by attorney Wendel Alexander.
