Ocs Pares Snra Triumphant
Ottos Comprehensive School (OCS), Pares Secondary School (PSS) and Sir Novelle Richards Academy (SNRA) all recorded victories on Monday when the Ministry of Sports Inter-School Under-15 Cricket competition resumed.
OCS had the easiest route to victory, as their scheduled match against Irene B. Williams Secondary School was decided by forfeit. The other two encounters were much closer, with PSS edging All Saints Secondary (ASSS) by eight runs, while SNRA held off Jennings Secondary School (JSS) by nine runs.
At Factory, PSS batted first against All Saints Secondary and posted 62 for nine from 17 overs. Extras led the scoring with 18, while K. Padmore was the top batter with eight runs. Z. Martin was the standout bowler for All Saints, claiming five wickets for just four runs. Nasri Brookes and T. Browne also contributed with two wickets each.
In response, ASSS were bowled out for 55. Brookes produced a fighting innings of 24, which was valuable in the context of the low-scoring match, but he was unable to guide his team to victory. Javaughn Freeland starred with the ball for PSS, taking three wickets for six runs, while I. John and V. Jarvis picked up two wickets apiece.
In the other contested match, SNRA batted first against JSS and compiled 95 for eight from their allotted 20 overs. Sherwin Martin top-scored with 24, while extras again proved costly, contributing 25 runs to the total. Estan Hill was excellent with the ball for Jennings, taking three for five, while Tyler Martin claimed three for 27.
Jennings struggled throughout their chase, losing wickets at regular intervals. Jariek Francis offered the main resistance with a well-played 45 from 52 balls, but received little support, as no other batter reached double figures. Jennings was eventually dismissed for 86.
The SNRA bowlers were disciplined throughout, with Kevon Charles, Martin and Ayden Bazil each collecting two wickets.
All matches scheduled for Wednesday, April 29 were postponed.
