Ottos Rangers Stun Hopeful
Ottos Rangers picked up a rare but welcomed win in the Antigua Premier League (APL) when, on Monday, they beat John Hughes one-nil to claim only their third triumph in 19 showings this season.
Playing at the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) Technical Center, Rangers struck in the 45th minute when Howayne James netted from close range. The Ottos men were then able to hold John Hughes at bay for the remainder of the contest as they move to 10 points but remain second from bottom in the 12-team standings.
John Hughes remain third from bottom with 13 points after 19 outings with both teams still facing automatic relegation to the First Division.
Meanwhile, in the Second Division, Police crushed Young Warriors 10-0 when they met at the Johnson’s Sports Complex.
Three players picked up braces with Ramar Perry striking in the 10th and 74th minutes, Terrel Richards scoring in the 13th and 78th minutes and Carl Kirby netting in minutes 24 and 38. There were single conversions from Jamary Galloway in the third minute, Charmaane Daley in the 27th minute, Jenson Samuel in the 29th minute, Nijah Hope in the 59th and Watley Samuel in the 62nd all for the lawmen.
Still in the Second Division, Sea View Farm had goals from Caron Lewis in the 58th, Nigel Graham in the 69th and Justin Hilaire in the 75 as they beat Bethesda FC 3-0 while Urlings FC beat Blackburn Palace one-nil thanks to a Derick Pryce 75th minute conversion.
